Complicity Project

• So far the meat seems to be on: absorption of responsibility and mixed taxes
• Voluntary vs. required payments (e.g. liberty bonds vs. taxes)
• Avoidable vs. less-avoidable (e.g. import duties vs. poll taxes)
• Legal complicity vs. moral complicity
• New Testament zone between submit-to-rulers and god-before-men

Notes:

• Seems to me that the folks who believe that there is complicity caused by paying taxes tend to just start from there and go on to argue "what to do about it."  The more nuanced arguments about this position tend to be from people arguing against it.  This isn't evidence for the validity of one side or the other (perhaps the better argument is more likely one to be argued, or perhaps the least valid position needs the most argument to back it up).  But it does make it possible that a project like this will be in danger of becoming unbalanced.
